Dinas Island Farm is the home of Neil and Lynda Perkins who farm this National Trust land in a very beautiful part of the Welsh countryside.
The farm stands on a headland surrounded by the glistening waters of the Irish Sea and the gentle green slopes are dotted with pure white Lleyn ewes and their black-faced lambs.
Neil believes that the strength of the Lleyn is that they’re excellent mothers and can be trusted to take great care of their lambs. The rams are all Suffolks, the result of cross breeding the old English breeds of Southdowns and Norfolk Horned sheep.
Like most local farmers, Neil is a member of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and is quick to praise its work. Neil is also pleased to work with and have the support of Prime Meats. Lynda has been named the NFU Cymru/Natwest Wales Woman Farmer of the Year. Prime Meats look forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship with the farm.
